Diary Entries October 1979

1st October 1979

Day of Atonement (Yom Kippur). Alison Hogarth's birthday. Rainy day. Saw Tony 4 times & I was shown cos he was in Lancaster doorway near me! Library & listened to radio.

2nd October 1979

Saw Tony 3 times. Couldn't go swimming with school cos too many going. Played out & on 'It's a Knockout' we came 2nd cos Italy came 3rd. Listened to radio.

3rd October 1979

Saw Tony twice. Boring day (weather). Also boring on telly & I couldn't play out! Saved £1.85 so far (ACE). Went shop for Mum. Listened to radio very early.

4th October 1979

Saw Tony 3 times. Rainy day & couldn't do homework! Watched box with 'Top of the Pops' Police No.1 & 'Blankety Blank' & 'Citizen Smith.' A series called 'Bloomers' wasn't good.

5th October 1979

Saw Tony 4 times. Deb, Lynn, Donna, etc were saying how fit Tony is, in front of me. Funny how he's chatting up 4th year girls deliberately just like Nigel did. Went to Library & watched telly.

6th October 1979

Tabernacles (Succoth). Went to Town this morning with Sharon until 1pm. Bought Julie's Horror Book, eyeliner & pen I'm writing with. Watched telly but bed early.

7th October 1979

Bit boring (Sundays usually are). Messed with crosswords. Listened to Top 20 which was ace. During 'Roots' I washed hair. Also watched 'To the Manor Born' & 'Shoestring' good.

8th October 1979

Saw Tony 3 times. He walked past me outside when he was going to bus layby. Played out a lot tonight cos it was lovely and warm. Went dark so came in & watched the box.

9th October 1979

Saw Tony 3 times. Me & Julie got out of Netball but teacher called us back to play the team! Tight cow! Watched 'It's a Knockout.' We came 7th. Load of rubbish!!

10th October 1979

Saw Tony only once cos had to stay in for Miss Day. Hope to make up for it tomorrow though. Played out so boring cmae back in again. Watched telly.

11th October 1979

Saw Tony twice - both times talking to girls (not bothered)! Bag bust yesterday, hope to get a new 'un. Watched 'Top of the Pops' & Police still No.1. Also 'Citizen Smith' & 'Blankety Blank' all ACE.

12th October 1979

Saw Tony 4 times. He was going to talk to (tarts) girls but other friends with them so didn't bother. Ironed & watched telly. Been looking at catalogue. I'm now falling asleep. BYE!

13th October 1979

Up early to go to Town but couldn't go - in morning anyway! Went in afternoon with Shaz & her Mum & it stopped raining. Packed out! Managed to buy school canvas bag (£3.99).

14th October 1979

Did homework in morning. Washed hair after dinner & made buns. Didn't go out. Watched 'Roots' it was ace cos it made me cry! Also 'To the Manor Born.'

15th October 1979

Saw Tony twice - don't know if I still like him or not (I think he's ill)! Or is it me? Played out cos of no homework. Went dark soon (about 6.15pm) but came in at 7.

16th October 1979

Saw Tony once & Nigel. On 'It's a Knockout' we came 4th. Won 2 games - 1st & last! So far we've come 2nd, 2 3rds, 7th & 4th. Before prog. played out with Shaz.

17th October 1979

Didn't see Tony today - glad I didn't cos I've been depressed (probably cos my period is due soon). Affecting HMWK results too. Watched telly - did HMWK in bed.

18th October 1979

Started period this morning (depressing me, keep getting upset over it) but not worth it really is it? My Physics mark didn't help (lot HMWK). Didn't see Tony either!

19th October 1979

Saw Tony once but still made me upset cos of period. Cried during dinner-time & Ann told me not to let it worry me (especially in HMWK's). Had bath & watched telly.

20th October 1979

Period not depressing me as much as it did. I managed to do Mum's ironing & a bit of my HMWK! Watched telly quite a lot eg. 'Starsky & Hutch' (good mood now).

21st October 1979

Sunny day today. Joe didn't get up so Nan & Grandad had to come on bus. Washed hair & ironed for Mum (nowt else to do). Listened to radio & watched 'Roots' & 2 other programmes.

22nd October 1979

Saw Tony 4 times. Glad I didn't get HMWK. Went to Library & watched telly. Not much on, 2nd part 'Starsky & Hutch' (load of clap)!

23rd October 1979

Saw Tony only once at dinner-time. Hated Games - wish I could go swimming. Read bit of Library book 'Jaws' & watched 'It's a Knockout.' We came 4th & we were at home!!

24th October 1979

Saw Tony once on tennis courts. Colder day but can live with it. Hardly any HMWK. Glad ITV dispute over although we never had it on (tonight anyway)!

25th October 1979

Not been my week for seeing Tony - only twice today & I was shown cos I looked round waiting 4 Shaz & he was there! Lena Martell No.1. Also watched 'Blankety Blank' & 'Citizen Smith.'

26th October 1979

Saw Tony 3 times & had to brush past him. COR! Last day cos we've got a week's HOLIDAY - ACE! Could do with gettin' up late (that's wot I did this mornin')! Bed 1/2 9.

27th October 1979

Watched 'Swap Shop' with guest Bob Geldof. Ironed for Mum & read bit more of books. ACE things on telly. Didn't watch 'Starsky & Hutch' anyway last one 4eva. Did watch 'The Professionals.'

28th October 1979

Summer Time Ends. Clocks turned back. Mainly watched telly & read today but I still washed hair & listened to radio. 'Roots' was ace -another weeper. Want book.

29th October 1979

Read books in extension - listened to radio most of day. Went to shop for Mum. Hope to go to Town with Shaz tomorrow. Watched telly at night.

30th October 1979

Shaz won't come back from Durham 'til Sat. I might go to Town on my own though. Did same as yesterday. BURY won 'It's a Knockout' (miracle)! NW final.

31st October 1979

Boring today. Went to Town for socks - came back but only listened to radio. Might go to Town tomorrow morning. Watched telly at night.
