Diary Entries August 1978

1st August 1978

Got up at 9.10am. Went round to Sharon's, it rained so after dinner I went round to read until it stopped. Sun came out & dried rain a bit. Went to Den, stayed until 8.05pm. At home read Miriam's magazines that were given to us as nothing on telly. Bed 10pm.

2nd August 1978

Got up at 8am to go to Grandad's. Went in Joe's car whilst he and Nan went for money back (haven't got it). All came back & Grandad bought double ice creams! Sunny most of day (38th). Rained a lot at night. Played cricket & watched Wednesday At Night. Bed 9pm.

3rd August 1978

Got up at 10am. Didn't play out 'cos it rained. After dinner Joe & Dave came down in Joe's car & we went to Thornton. Still rained. Watched Top of the Pops with Dave Lee Travis. John Travolta still No.1 for 8th week. Carry on Doctor fim on. Bed 9pm.

4th August 1978

Got up at 9.45am. Decided to watch television but it didn't rain. In afternoon Sharon came & the sun came out & we had a look at the new "T" cars. Came in to wash my hair. Watched The Incredible Hulk & he changed twice plus Horizon. Bed 10pm.

5th August 1978

Got up at 9am. Watched television in the morning because Sharon & Steve are at their Aunty Barbara's for the weekend. Played out on my bike. Dull but didn't rain (did when I went to bed). Watched Happy Days with 'The Fonz', The Bionic Woman, 3-2-1 & Kojak (good). Bed 10.30pm.

6th August 1978

Got up at 9am. Read bood because it rained. Cleaned up in afternoon but I made Tarts. Played out a bit but came in to listen to Top 20 on radio. Watched film Midnight Hour starring Rex Harrison & Doris Day. It wasn't a repeat of a similar film with the same 2 people in it during February. Bed 1020pm.

7th August 1978

Got up at 9.05am. Went round to Sharon's at 10am. She got up late & after dinner we went to Library. Got ice cream from Rocco (lime & lemon). Rained but it wasn't hard. Watched Kenny Everett Video Show. Nothing exciting on after that. Very boring day & I read in bed at 9.10pm.

8th August 1978

Got up at 9.15am. Rained in morning so I couldn't call for Sharon. In afternoon rain stopped so I went round to watch Commonwealth Games. Watched repeat of this at night & New Series of What's On Next? and the BBC News. Bed 9.20pm.

9th August 1978

Got up at 10am. Went round to Sharon's & she got up late. In afternoon Shaz & Steve went to Pictures with Phil & Paul & I am going next week. At night watched Commonwealth Games, also London Night Out with Tom O'Connor. Bed 9.20pm.

10th August 1978

Got up at 8.50am. Went to shop for Mum. NB: CANNOT READ THE REST DUE TO ME WRITING IN THICK FELT-TIP PEN!

11th August 1978

Got up at 9.05am. Wnet to shops with Mum. 37th sunny day. Didn't got to baths. Caught grasshoppers at Den. Watched the Incredible Hulk. It was very boring because he only changed once. Also Horizon about people getting multiple sclerosis (YES I DID SPELL IT RIGHT)! Bed 10pm.

12th August 1978

Got up at 9.20am. Didn't go out in morning 'cos it rained. Cleaned up in afternoon but wasn't hot enough to go to baths. Watched Happy Days, went out. Came in again to watch Bionic Woman & 3-2-1 with Ted Rodgers. Also bit of Commonwealth Games. Bed 10.30pm.

13th August 1978

Got up at 9.45am. Bright morning & I & Sharon went to baths after dinner. When we came out it rained so couldn't play out when we got back. Listened to radio & went to Miriam's 'cos Mum & Dad went out. Didn't play games (tired). Bed 10.15pm.

14th August 1978

Got up at 9am. Rained all morning & most of afternoon. Made scones so wouldn't be bored. Played out after tea with Sharon. Came in to watch Kenny Everett's Video Show. Bath & washed hair. Nothing else on telly after that. Bed 8.30pm.

15th August 1978

Got up at 9.10am. Rained all morning but in afternoon it cleared up a bit so I & Sharon played out. Rained a bit but stopped & it was windy but sunny. Sharon washed hair. Rest of us played Releasio which was ACE 'cos Mason was playing! Watched What's On Next? Weather report very gloomy for tomorrow. Bed 9.25pm.

16th August 1978

Got up at 9am. Watched repeat of Grange Hill. After dinner it stopped raining so we could play out. At night we all played Releasio but I came in cos it rained. Watched Elvis in Concert it was for his death this time last year. Also watched Wednesday At Eight with Tom O'Connor. Bed 9.25pm.

17th August 1978

Got up at 8.55am. Beautiful morning & quite nice in afternoon (warm). Sharon had to go out with Ruth & Claire somewhere but came back to play Releasio (all except Mason). Watched Top of The Pops with Noel Edmunds. John Travolta wasn't No.1! Watched film & news. Tomorrow it will be DRY! Bed 9.30pm.

18th August 1978

Got up at 9.15am. After dinner I was allowed to go swimming with Sharon at Derby Baths (38th sunny day). Nobody was playing out when we came back. Went to Library (I wasn't changing book, Sharon was). Went in to wash my hair in bath. Watched the Incredible Hulk. Also news. Bed 9.40pm.

19th August 1978

Got up at 8.55am. Went to Sharon's & both went to Library. After dinner we were allowed to go swimming again. Saw Deborah there (39th sunny day). Watched film, the Bionic Woman (better than last week), 3-2-1 with Ted Rogers & last one of Kojak. Bed 10.30pm.

20th August 1978

Got up at 8.40am. Listened to radio. NB: CANNOT READ THE REST OF THIS ENTRY DUE TO THE FACT I HAVE SPRAWLED R.PLANT'S BIRTHDAY OVER THE TOP OF IT!

21st August 1978

Got up at 9am. Watched telly in morning 'cos it rained. In afternoon we went to see Star Wars at Odeon. Should have gone with Sharon & that last week. Played out after tea. Watched bit of Genesis doing a tour of Europe. Also bit of Kenny Everett. Bed 9pm.

Watched The Incredible Hulk, played cricket. COULDN'T FINISH 'COS OF NECK!!!!!!!!!!

26th August 1978

Got up at 9.20am. Played cricket in morning & went to the baths 'cos neck nearly better. Played cricket when came back. Dad in bad mood. Watched 3-2-1 with Ted Rogers. Also new series of Starsky & Hutch. Bed 10.15pm.

27th August 1978

Got up at 9.50am. Only played out a bit in morning. 40th sunny day. Me, Mum, Phil & family went to Pleasure Beach. Came back to have tea. After tea it went dull but it didn't stop us playing cricket. Watched film 'Butch Cassidy & The Sundance Kid.' Also news. Bed 10.25pm.

28th August 1978

NOTHING HAPPENED except going to Fleetwood Market.

DOWN TOWN FOR SHOES. GOING TOMORROW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

31st August 1978

Got up at 9.30am. Watched telly 'cos it rained. After dinner went to downtown for some shoes (wedges). Getting pumps on Saturday. Watched European Championships. Watched Top of The Pops, Commodores No.1 for 3rd week. Bless This House film. Bed 9.25pm.
